"My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music." Psalm 57:7
My heart is steadfast, O Lord (4x)
My heart is steadfast; I will sing and praise your name
My heart is steadfast; I will make music to your praise
My heart is steadfast; I will love You all my days
For it's You who has saved me, and made me whole
This came out of my quiet time as I read through Psalms 55-59, and was meditating on Psalm 57:7. I've been praying for a steadfast and consistent heart in the Lord ever since April 1st when I read the words of George Muller who wrote about a former orphan, remarking that "he walked as a most consistent Christian."
I was wondering on what it means to abide in Him? How does my heart remain steadfast? How can I continually renew my love for Jesus each day?
When I read through Psalm 57:7, I was wondering why that semicolon was used. Why was the semicolon there? It must mean that there is a relationship between a steadfast heart and one who sings and make music unto the Lord. Then I thought, how does a steadfast and consistent heart relate to singing and making music? The answer that was pressed upon me was the word, "Overflow."
It is out of the overflow of my heart that songs of praises burst forth. As I sing and make music, expressing my love for Christ, He keeps my heart steadfast and consistent. Therefore, I will forever praise His holy name, for His name is wonderful.
This morning, as I was reading Psalms 77-89, I've found yet another beautiful verse that resonates perfectly with Psalm 57:7: "Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising You. Selah" - Psalm 84:4
This verse comes right after the verse from where the song, "Better is one day" came from.
"How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God." - Psalm 84:1-2
Do you see the connection between Dwelling in His house to Always Praising Him? The relationship between having a Steadfast and Consistent heart to Singing and Making Music?
Always Praise Him, Rejoice, and be Glad. God is Amazing! Praise God. I do all things Because I Love Him.
Let us continue to meditate and reflect on His love, and out of that abundance, we will sing and make music.
